Andrew Lee brings a unique set of aviation legal services to Schaden, Katzman, Lampert & McClune, enabling the firm to serve a broader base of clientele as well as helping to serve as a liaison with clients' existing probate and estate counsel. With a background in tax law, estate planning, and corporate/partnership law, Mr. Lee is able to assist the firm's clients with a variety of aviation-related legal matters, including advice on the taxation of business versus personal use of aircrafts, airplane financing, the drafting of airplane co-ownership, use, and maintenance agreements, aviation-related contractual issues, and sales and exchanges of aircrafts including tax-free exchanges.
In addition, Mr. Lee counsels clients regarding the creation, termination, purchase, sale, merger, and division of entities such as LLCs, corporations, and partnerships. Furthermore, he assists his clients regarding the implementation of cutting-edge tax reduction or deferral techniques through the use of Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts; Family Limited Partnerships; Sales to Defective Grantor Trusts; Dynasty Trusts; and Multi-Generational Retirement Plan Trusts.
Mr. Lee received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, his Juris Doctor degree from American University, and his Master of Law degree in taxation from New York University. He is a member of the Michigan, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Colorado Bars.
Mr. Lee is a recognized authority in his areas of practice, and has been quoted by publications such as the Robb Report's Worth Magazine and Dow Jones' Market Watch and Stratos Magazine. He has given numerous speeches to professional groups, and published several articles in leading national tax and estate planning publications including Practical Tax Strategies; Tax Ideas; Journal of Practical Estate Planning; Trusts & Estates; Estate Planning; Journal of Retirement Planning; the Monthly Digest of Tax Articles; the Michigan Bar Journal; and The Michigan Probate & Estate Planning Journal.
